The Backstage Hotel, Zermatt, is absolutely unique! Complete with a cinema in the lower floors! A luxurious boutique hotel with only 19 rooms. It was designed and built by Heinz Julen and his signature workmanship can be seen throughout the hotel, in fact all the furnishings were hand crafted at his workshop here in Zermatt. Rooms & Suites
All the rooms are totally unique, the StandART double; the Deluxe Matterhorn; the Cube Loft; the Family Cube Loft and the Sky & Stars Suite. All the rooms have private ‘en-suite’ bathrooms, some with exclusive chrome bath tubs! Nespresso machines (free capsules), WiFi, flat screen TV’s, iPod docking stations are all included.
Eat & Drink
The Michelin Starred restaurant ‘After Seven’ is located within the hotel, overseen by the famous Swiss chef Ivo Adam. After Seven’s multiple award winning star cuisine involves a creative mix of locally inspired and worldly dishes, sometimes exotically infused, but always market fresh and seasonal.
In the Backstage Café you can enjoy afternoon tea, homemade pasteries and fine cakes. The Vernissage bar is located on the lower floors, opening on to the cinema, this a popular bar for everyone in Zermatt.
Wellness & Spa
The Story of Creation is the spa theme! Unique in that every day for 7 days you experience a different ‘creation’.
Day 1 – Light,in the darkened steam room pierced by light. Day 2 – Water & Air, immerse yourself in an ocean of infrared heated glass pearls, whose 38°C heat will shift your body temperature into a state of “healing” fever. Submerge yourself into the movement of the clouds and relish the intoxicating effects of the wind. Day 3 – Flora, the day on which the world became green, specifically stimulates your sense of smell. The tropical climate allows plants to thrive, even in Winter. Inhale the lavender fragrances to cleanse your airways. Day 4 – Creation of the Planets & Tides, an 80°C sauna allows you to plunge into cosmic silence. Images from the Hubble-Telescope will accompany you on a journey through the magnificent world of colours that surround us. Day 5 – Fauna, this day is primarily interpreted through sounds. Become entirely weightless in the floating pool and listen to the underwater songs of whales and dolphins. Above water, you will hear the enchanting sounds of birds and land animals. Day 6 – The Human, water-exfoliation and soothing body lotion sensually revive your skin. Video clips complement your condition. Day 7 – Peace & Meditation, step into the meditation room, light a candle, lie yourself on a water bed and while listening to music, let your eyes gaze at Michelangelo’s masterpieces in the Sistine Chapel!
