Situated in the desirable Winkelmatten area of Zermatt, it is a 5 minute walk to the Matterhorn Express gondola and it is possible to ski back to within a short walk of the door for much of the winter. A bus stop is close by.
The chalet has fantastic views of the Matterhorn and associated peaks and provides for a level of comfort, design and convenience seldom seen in private rental accommodation. Further more, the impressive in-house “wellness” facilities rival those found in many of Zermatt’s hotels and include a private swimming pool and gym!
Modern in design, the chalet’s various levels go down from the main entrance and boot room at street level. Access to the chalet has been specifically designed to allow for guests with limited mobility: there is ramp access to the front door and a private internal lift between floors, in addition to the stairs.
The large sitting/dining room has an atmospheric fireplace and wood oven, as well as its own terrace. The adjacent kitchen/dinner is fully equipped and has a big table where everyone can eat together, as well as a terrace toward the Matterhorn.
Tastefully furnished and decorated to a high standard, the chalet has it’s owner’s proud collection of paintings and drawings adorning the chalet’s walls.
You enter Chalet Banja on the ‘top’ floor at street level, here is an entrance hall, ski room with a heated boot rack and access to the lift.
One level down is a large open plan sitting/dining room with fireplace, wood oven and terrace adjoining the large kitchen/dinning area with terrace. There is an additional guest WC on this floor also.
Down a level from the living accommodation in Chalet Banja are 3 bedrooms, each with their own bath and/or shower, WC and balcony. Two of the rooms are twin/doubles whilst the third is set out as a children’s room and has four bunks.
On the chalet’s bottom level there is an extensive “wellness” area with, in addition to a 10m heated swimming pool with Matterhorn view, a sauna, shower and equipped exercise area/gym.
The bedrooms and main sitting room have cable TV, whilst the chalet has its own private WiFi network. All bathrooms/showers have hairdryers and there are safes in all the bedrooms.
Infants’ cots and high chairs are available.
